Well, I think it's because people expected more out of it. If anything Bungie's suffering from high expectations more than anything else. People shouldn't expect the HGN to be a benchmark of graphic novels or in any way revolutionary. Similarly, one shouldn't read Quarantine and expect some groundbreaking work of art or a complete upheaval of the storyline. It was short, beautiful, and provided some bit of thrill. At the same time it served the purpose of showing that Sgt Johnson didn't just wake up uninfected and walk away. I mean, that's the impression First Strike left me with. It made it sound nothing like the breathtaking escape from the Flood that Quarantine showed. | |
