In Response To: I'm getting worried *Small HGN Spoilers* (Cody Miller) I enjoyed the graphic novel and felt that it was worth the cash, but that was because I paid 15 dollars instead of 25 for it. The stories weren't up to par with what I had anticipated and the best part of the graphic novel was the art itself, in my opinion. That said, I did enjoy the Half-Jaw story and Second Sunrise (and I guess Johnson's story too, even though it wasn't really a story that we didn't already know). The worst part for me, hands down, was Armor Testing. The idea that a Spartan soldier (I guess we're supposed to assume a Spartan-II) would just STOP fighting alongside their brothers/sisters/family is extremely hard to swallow. I can't believe the shortsightedness that Spartan had in assuming that she could just stop fighting the Covenant and have a family while the Covenant is inexorably and systematically BURNING EVERY HUMAN WORLD until humans are extinct! Did she think the Covenant would just stop and say, "oh okay, you have a family and you're in the planetary guard so I guess I'll let you go"??? It would be one thing if she were a Spartan I, since they're old enough to have families while being retired from military service, but no. It's too feminine and not at all Spartan. My main concern about the Halo story is that Bungie was forced into breaking up what they had in mind for the Halo 2 story and making Halo 3, thus making both stories weaker than they were before. I have faith in them so I don't think this will happen, but we'll see. | |
