Before I knew it, I had finished the whole : thing. I thought "Wow, that was fast." Then I turned it over and : saw the price tag. It took me all of 2 seconds to put it back on the shelf : and walk away. So wait, your reading it consisted of you looking through it at the book store? I mean I've read it five times since I got it last Thursday. I can tell you, I was unimpressed the first time. In fact, I find that' often true with a lot of things I have strong expectations for. I was also very unimpressed with the Quarantine story, but now I am quite happy with it, short as it may be. : There was some good eye candy, but like you said, the stories are only : fragments, and nowhere near as rewarding as novels. "Last : Voyage" was the best one - not only do we get some background on the : SpecOps commander, but we see a little bit of what happens behind the : scenes within the Covenant (Spec Ops assaulting the Legate has some : implications). Though I could swear I saw human Assault Rifles being : carried by the Grunts. However, it still wasn't a complete story. Don't expect a 300 page novel from a 48 page story in a graphic novel. : When I got done with the part about Johnson's escape from the Flood, my : reaction was "That's it? You've gotta be shitting me!". It had : some good drawings (probably the best in the book), but there was no meat : to it at all. It was a replay of 343 Guilty Spark with a different : protagonist. Pointless. Well, I think the art gallery had the best in the book, but ok. : "Armor Testing" just seemed stupid to me. There's no way there : could still be "Reserves" when times are so desperate. That a : combat-capable Spartan could be "retired" makes no sense at all, : especially when Spartan training and attitudes are considered (Also makes : me think of "Conversations from the Universe", Cortana and the : other AI talked about Spartans but didn't mention this). This seems to fly : in the face of everything else we consider canon, and really offers no : important information. It basically seems to have been made solely to sell : ODST toys with pink splashes on them. I don't get what you mean. A Spartan retiring is not exactly unreasonable. And yes, there would still be reserve. It's called the "defending the home planet with billions of people living on it" brigade.
