This turned : out to be the most dissapointing, and with no words uttered, Johnson : simply walks to the top of 343 GS just as the Master Chief did. There was : no story here at all. He killed a few flood, but we are essentialy shown, : that his escape was nothing more than an escape. Nothing I did not already : know. I would definitely say Quarantine was the weakest storywise, though probably had the best artwork. It was a beautifully done piece. I mean, the shotgun. Beautiful. : "Armor testing" shows us a completely irrelevant glimpse at the : testing of Master Cheif's new armor. If anything, it is merely a vehicle : to introduce us to a new spartan, completely unfamiliar to us. I don't : know why she's important, or how she fits into the universe. I presume : that the Halo comic series will tell us this. Well, there is one pretty important thing it cleared up for me, Spartans can very well have kids. Haha! Fan fic writers everywhere rejoiced! I think it was also an interesting story too. : The same applies to "2nd sunrise over new mombassa". Nothing that : was revealed was new information, stemming mostly from the books, however : it was personalized. The exception being he audio recording, which does : seem to be intruiging enough to follow. However, shortly after it is : introduced, it is given away, and we do not follow up on it as the novel : simply ends. What do you mean? It revealed a whole lot. Before we were only briefly told that Secrion 2 covered up the Fall of Reach. Sunrise showed us that it went much further than that. This was far more than coverup. It really does set the atmosphere. It also made me question the UNSC competence even more. I mean they justify the coverup with an analogy about the British Empire. This is the very real possibility of human extinction and yet the UNSC is making it sound like they're just being attacked by smugglers or fighting a war that can never come to them. : Stretching the stories out over multiple games and movies seems to be common : now. The Matrix is an example of this, as is Pirate of the Carribean. In : the latter, obvious resolutions were postponed, so that the story could be : stretched out to 2 films, when I should have been told as one. Halo 2 : suffered from this, with a cliffhanger ending, after a story which seemed : to me stretched to fill a game. I really don't think the story was stretched. In fact, I'm thinking if Halo 2 had gone the way it was going to it may have ended up seeming too compressed or we may not have gotten nearly as much background. : Halo 2 was money well spent, because the entertainment value resided beyond : the story. The game was fun. However, I spent half as much money, on an : item being toted as purely story, only to find the beginnings, with the : ends dangling off in some future purchase. : How many comics will I have to buy to finish the stories that were started? You can't possibly compare this to a book or a video game. It's a graphic novel. A comic book. It takes me all of about 30 minutes to an hour to read the whole thing. It's short. The best comparison would be like one level in Halo 1 or 2. Even two levels.
