In Response To: Prepare for Cortana spec - *spoilers* (Jillybean) Alright, I've had it with this Jilly. All I did was ask that Cortana not be such a diz in your fan-fic stories and not always play second fiddle to Daxia. And if that was not enough, now you come to this forum and start accusing her of all sorts of unspeakable things. Why I have a good mind to drink some milk right out of the carton, that's right, no glass... I'm bad, I'm a rebel. Are you intimidated? Just don't get me started. ;) : Since the [admittedly] huge spoilers for First Strike
: 'Scanning, nothing. Just dust and echoes. We're the only ones left' : Or something to that affect. : Do you remember when we all thought she was a murdering evil 'rhymes with
: Sooo - I say she either A) made a mistake [pretty impossible for a Smart AI]
: I go for B I go with D) Survivors from the POA aren't sending out distress beacons and are maintaining radio silence. In all the debris, it would be near impossible to find them without an extensive scan. An active scan like that would be like a big arrow pointing right back to the MC's longsword for any Covenant still around. Therefore, there are no active signs of survivors that Cortana could find based on monitoring communication channels and short range scans. It could very well be that these survivors are found through a combination of luck, short range signals (say something like Morses code) or even flashing of a flashlight to communicate, and Cortana's calculations of where to look based on last know locations. What I'm saying is that survivors may not want to be found by the Covenant so they aren't making it easy for Cortana to find them. The key might just be the echoes...
