Yes, yes... Were the Halo to exist on its own, there would be an area - almost like a cylinder (more like the hole in a donut) where gravity would be weaker and items would be able to shift upwards or downwards along the axis. HOWEVER... The Halo is right in the middle of a Lagrange point. It is existing in an area of balance between Jonesworld (Threshold) and Zartmoon, and its "center of gravity" is hollow! Put something there, and the same forces should act upon it in the same manner. Hence, greater stability for this central area than if you were relying upon only the weaker gravity of the Halo itself. (Perhaps being subjected to greater local gravity being by the Halo.... but at least this is somewhat even and balanced as well.) > I don't know quite how to put this, but unlike on Earth, all you
*Snicker* Well shut my mouth... *rolls eyes* /Of course/ you can do so! But having a platform at a central location would allow you to obtain images of ANYTHING on the Halo... That includes the land that is too close for you to easily view through direct line-of-sight (since there may be obstructions such as mountains and such).... which is the area of the Halo you'd more often be concerned about while in battle anyway, right? And my previous post mentioned plenty of other important reasons for wanting to place something there. At the very least, it would provide for a more reliable communications system. -Noctavis |
