I believe one of the Island Four posts (or several of them) have a link to the precise definition of a halo orbit around a Lagrange point, which is indeed stable. Something has to get the ring spinning, though, to begin with ... as far as the atmosphere, etc. is concerned. Anyone think about that yet? ;) How would a particular people (or race or whatever) get such an object to start rotating? :) :) :) Nathan p.s. The ring does not have to encircle the Lagrange point (in fact, that would present some odd astronomical issues), but rather just needs to rotate in a halo orbit around it. The definition link makes things much more clear. Trust me. ;)
