I think you are about right about the wall heights of about 100 km high. I have guestimated them just a little less: 80 km. (half my scaled thickness; allowing for structure, substrata and surface features). My guesses are based on scaling the ring hologram in the movies. Yes, my assumption is that the hologram is to scale. :) I think that there is no compelling reason to make the surface area equal to that of earth's. The ring is not a creation of Terrans; so goes Halo's plot. I come up with a ring-surface width (from wall to wall) of about 640 km as opposed to your figure of 4,000 km.
