In Response To: Re: Tell that to the general audience. (jazo)

: For Halo, yes this is obviously true because of how big a brand it has
: become. Anything short of cutting edge would definitely result in
: criticism of Bungie up and down unfortunately.

: Actually they might not ever be able to win that battle. Plenty of people
: complain about Halo 3's graphics and lack of AA, etc... I STILL think H3
: is one of the best looking games out there.

I just don't see how graphics are THAT important. Yes, they make a big difference, but Halo 3 wasn't on the leading edge when it was released.

What you're saying about how big the 'brand' is could have been said before H3 was released. It wasn't released with the top resolution or FPS and yet the brand is still selling big. People are still clamoring for the next big title from Bungie (and even the one after that!).

Honestly, I am expecting corners to be cut in areas that just don't matter to me (like graphics) to make way for other things that will be on the leading edge. Being on the leading edge of multiplayer and the leading edge of game music and the leading edge of community involvement are WAY more important to me. Let the game reviewers fight it out...
