Re: Why recycle environments for multiplayer? | |

In Response To: Why recycle environments for multiplayer? (jazo) : Why is this necessary? I'll try to answer this as a fan with the limited knowledge that comes from not actually being a Bungie employee.. Bungie has said that their design philosophy is different for Reach than it has been previously. Instead of making a campaign space and a multiplayer space, they are making a single space that is much more interesting to fight in and can function as both. It's not like "oh, we need a multiplayer map.. this section of mission X might be OK, let's just copy and paste that" .. it means those sections are designed from the ground up with that purpose in mind, so not only will there be awesome multiplayer maps, but the campaign battles will hopefully also benefit from more thoughtful design and be more fun. I think it's a way to enhance quality without losing quantity. I mean, they only have so much time..would you rather have a campaign mission cut in order to send some people over to design some multiplayer maps from scratch, or have campaign and multiplayer maps lack the polish they might have if given the extra time?
