In Response To: Why recycle environments for multiplayer? (jazo) : In all the Halo games there has obviously been a sense that the maps we : played in multiplayer were somewhat inspired by stuff from campaign. : However in none of them were we told right out "In this new Halo, the : multiplayer maps are taken directly from campaign, possibly at a different : time of day..." and what not. : Why is this necessary? Part of the ongoing appeal of some of my favorite maps
: I guess what I'm hoping is that if this is the way Bungie is creating
: Thoughts? Depends. It certainly hasn't really hurt MW or MW2 to reuse a good bit of single player geometry in multiplayer, with a few simple tweaks here and there for the sake of balance.
Its safe to say that for the vast majority, things like the mystique of the environment is completely irrelevant, so long as its functionality and playability is top notch. For multiplayer, that really has to be the priority, how well it works to play rather than how interesting it is to look at. That's all nice and good of course, but it should never be at the expense of the combat.
