The only reason the "general audience" doesn't appreciate just how awesome EVERY new game looks is because they probably started playing games on the original Xbox or Playstation.

When it was 8 bit and your enjoyment stemmed from the gameplay and visual charm it's a lot easier to be satisfied with however good or bad a game's graphics are these days.
