In Response To: Tips for Reach (Cody Miller) : •Make : Legendary harder. This will give the skilled players a reason to get : better. I should not be able to beat the game on Legendary on my first go. I don't care if it's a bit more difficult, but there are always skulls to tweak the difficulty. : •Cut the fat. Don't pad the game for length or make us wander a hub. Make the : game like Rocky and end it at the absolute peak, however long that may be. The hub was sort of cool in ODST, but the main issue was that they didn't have enough dev time to make it all that interesting outside of the scripted events when moving from flashback to flashback. I doubt that Reach will have a hub anyway. : •No focus groups. Go with your guts, not by committee. You sure? Only Bungie knows how much those helped, if at all. : •30 seconds max without shooting anything. I can't recall ever having an issue with this in previous games. : •Reward outrageous displays of skill. Give us some achievements you don't : think anybody can hit… then we will strive to hit them. I really don't want nigh-unattainable achievements. Challenging achievements, yes, but ones that are just hard and require luck? No way. : •No barriers or kill zones anywhere in the game. I agree with this general sentiment. I loved exploring in H1 and H2. : •Make every weapon useful like they were in Halo 1. Don't make PP/BR the best : combo for 95% of the game. Definitely. : •Never ever make any concession with casual gamers in mind. In fact, develop : the game without so much as even uttering or thinking the word casual. Making a game approachable for a novice is a good thing, but I agree that they shouldn't compromise aspects of the game for novice users. : •Design a game, not a sandbox. I love how the Halo games are sandboxes. I only wish that Bungie would do more with the sandbox. : •Make every part awesome. We should be saying 'awesome' all the time. Giving : us more of the same isn't going to cut it. I didn't really mind the repetitiveness of H1 levels like AotCR, but I really don't want another Library or Cortana. : •Jump us right in. Who needs tutorials; that's what the manual is for. Or just stick to what they've been doing.
