Believe it or not, there are fictional characters that have had that viewpoint about something, and there are even some real people that feel that way. : What Halo has done is made the Elites too 'human' in that they have too many : human qualities when they could have been wholly alien in concept and execution. As Bry pointed out, it couldn't have been completely alien in either of those ways. Even taking human constraints into account it's unclear where the limits lie and what "wholly alien" in a practical sense is, and as I posited before, doing that may be interesting, but it might not make for stories that are as good.
