How much of it are really 'human' traits, and how much are, in essence, more a by-product of intelligence and individualism. In the end, it is a human mind that has come up with that scenario, which happens to be one that has existed in our own history at one time or another, so just how 'alien' is it, really? One thing they do often have in abundance is pride, and given that humans were portrayed as desecrating sacred sites, we reach a cross-road between their honour and their faith. That's a place where results are going to vary from one individual to another.
