The point is to make money for Microsoft and legitimize the franchise ("No, there are books too, it's a mature thing, honestly"). I'm sure all of the authors tried to write good fiction and have it fit in with the games (at least somewhat), but Bungie didn't make the books and they didn't have oversight on them, and as mentioned there have been several authors, who didn't work together and don't have the same writing style. When someone from Bungie did write one, it disagreed with a lot of the books but agreed with the games (in fact AFAIK it still does two games later). Funny how that works out. I don't know how much this will seem reasonable because of the same reason I put the second part first here. : To be honest, I checked out halfway through Halo 2. I didn't care for the : about-face regarding the Elites, but my biggest problem was how poorly the : story was presented. Much of the dialogue and voice-acting were : cringeworthy, and the whole story felt like something thrown together and : produced by a couple of kids in high school. I'm not sure what you by the about-face on Elites. I disagree strongly with everything else in this paragraph, and I suspect we (and most of HBO) can't come to a real agreement with you on Halo 2 or most of the subsequent games.
