In Response To: Re: Too early for an opinion on 343i (rukizzel) : You know, I've always wondered where that idea came from... When exactly did : 343 say that the changes they made would never make it into anything but : the Beta or Anniversary hoppers? (Simply playing Devil's Advocate.) I promise you that if you search HBO's front page (not that one exists :P) or Google, you'll find plenty of instances, particularly from Frankie, making it pretty clear where the TU would be and where it would stay. Now, they never said it'd stay that way forever, but it's been less than a month since H1A came out. In my opinion, that's pretty lame that they couldn't even keep to what they said less than a month after H1A came out. : As far as my feelings about them, I have a confidence they can do wonderful
The irony in this statement is that "their work" in regards to H1A was mostly Certain Affinity and Saber Interactive. I know 343 Industries was deeply involved, but the majority of the burden appears to have been on the other two companies. Having read the threads as they've played out over here, people still can't seem to figure out whether or not they should be attacking 343 Industries or Saber Interactive or both for a lot of the "issues" or problems they're finding with H1A. But as for their now clearly inconsistent handling of multiplayer with Reach in how they're applying the TU to other non-Anniversary playlists, the inconsistency both in how they claim things will happen to their fans and what they actually do is concerning, especially if it translates into an inconsistent and disappointing time in Halo 4 later. I've already pointed out numerous times months ago about how disappointing and in many cases awful (my opinion) their marketing was for H1A from the start, but I've mostly held my tongue for H4 until they stop showing us contracted nonsense and show what they're actually made of. Alas, time will tell as far as Halo 4 is concerned. : Having said that, love doesn't create the best video games by itself. So
Agreed. They're extremely capable and are more than equipped to knock this thing out of the park. While everything I said above definitely has helped to form an opinion for 343 Industries in my mind, it's a self-contained opinion that applies only to H1A and their handling of it. I'm still unbelievably excited to see what's in store for us with Halo 4, and thus I haven't allowed the rather weak contracted trailer to dim my hopes of what's to come. I can't wait to see what actual game assets they have waiting for us to see. The only solid opinion I have right now is about how ridiculous their PR and marketing has been at times, and I'm hoping it improves drastically in consistency and execution by the time they're ready to start showing Halo 4 to the world.
