If MLG wants to create their own "more competitive" gametypes and maps, they are fully enabled to do so. If pete_the_duck wants to create a pinball machine that you play with a sniper rifle, or a rock-paper-scissors simulator, he is obviously enabled to do so. I think your argument is just a little bit ridiculous that we should be blaming Bungie for anything. Reach is a FUN game, and that's what I care about as a gamer. I think people tend to forget how ground-breaking the Forge and Theater modes are for Halo. They were already impressive in Halo 3, but then Forge World and the newest gametype customization has just blown it out of the water. No other games even come close to matching these amazing features that Bungie has implemented almost flawlessly. Sure they may have a few limitations, but what we got is simply amazing. So if MLG doesn't want to play Halo anymore, that's fine. I'd prefer the competitive tryhards to stay out of my "I'm just trying to relax with a video game and have some good times" play-style. Maybe that makes me a "casual gamer", but I don't really care. I play games to have fun, not to compete and stroke my e-peen.
