This is the way that multilinear time ("infinite parallel dimensions") would work.

And to the other people responding to this, yes, if you went back in time and didn't kill your parents and then went back to the future, provided that you didn't screw something up while you were in the past that prevented your parents from giving birth to you, there would be two of you, because you would be in a different timeline from the one you came from. In the timeline you came from, you would have just ceased to exist. In effect, jumping backwards and then forward again in time is just moving across parallel timelines.
