The word "split" was figurative, not literal. There would be no splits in the timeline, and there is only ever one timeline. You #2 (using your numbers) would not grow up to be You #1 because You #1 and You #2 (adult) would have had completely different lives, experiences, memories, bodies, etc.
Everything still happens in the same timeline, there is only one timeline, and everyone can only belong to that timeline. The events in the timeline change according to what the different yous do, but it is still unilinear.
Assuming, of course, I am reading this new word correctly.
I see multilinear as in multiple, "simultaneous" timelines that all co-exist next to each other and people hop around from one timeline to the next. There may be a "true timeline" that actually happens and someone who time-travels sort of switches the tracks so the true timeline takes a different timeline.
That is not what I am talking about. I am strictly describing one timeline and a bunch of people directly affecting that timeline.
This is why I find time-travel discussions annoying. Everyone has their own set of definitions and they tend to collide.
