Well, it is not a perfect analogy, it is mostly just an example to try and explain how I see this. :P
And I am having a hard time understanding what you are saying. What I am talking about is not a time loop and it is not multiple time-lines. (At least, it is not in my head. :P)

Just because you remember it happening does not mean that it happened. It happened to you, which is why you remember it, but that does not mean it happened. The whole timeline has been rewritten, but that does not effect you because you were the one that messed everything up.
Gah, I wish there was an easier way to describe this. Your physical self and all of the things that happened to it (causing your memories, scars) have nothing to do with the timeline. They are all caused by a particular set of events, yes, but they are irrelevant when it comes to time-travel. When you travel back through time, you already exist. You can do something to change all of the future, but you still exist, because you changed all of the future.
There are no time-loops, there are no alternate time-lines. It is the same time-line. In effect, every single event that happened will have to happen again. There is a different "future", but it is still the same time-line.
It looks like different time-lines, but as you said, you cannot recreate the original. It is gone. You can remember the original, but it no longer exists in space-time. It is now nothing more than a memory.
If your stance was true, and it still existed, you could theoretically travel there. In my view, it no longer exists. It "once" existed, but since our language is not really prepared for this, it gets confusing talking about it.
