But you can't really jump back to the original timeline (according to some theories...) because you've just created a new one by changing the "past" when you killed your parents. And you really couldn't jump forward in the timeline you currently are in because you've just changed whatever happened when your parents were alive, basically you've done a reset of whatever happened beyond that point.
