	In Response To: Plotline question concerning Infinity (Icarus) : Ok, so the last time i touched marathon was way back when infinity first came : out. Recently though, I discovered aleph one, and have over the course of : the past month or so played through the original trilogy, evil, red, : eternal, tempus irae, and rubicon. All great games. I have also sifted : through the gargantuan amount of data on the story site. It's very : interesting to read all of these theories but there is one i find fault : with. Welcome... TO YOUR DOOM! : I dont know if this is the appropriate place to post something like this but : a link directed me here. Every direct sequel to infinity that ive played : or read of seems to hold that the player is somehow related to the jjaro: : a jjaro cyborg, a jjaro himself, a regular cyborg with jjaro given powers, : etc... This seems to be the only way anyone has ever accounted for : infinity's time travel/paralell dimension plot. I think it's far more : likely and somewhat obvious that the distortion of reality is caused by : the release of the W'rk(not even gonna try) chaos thing after the sun is : blown. While the jjaro may have some influence i dont think they are : directly responsible for anything that occurs concerning the : player/marine. The popular theory (put forth IIRC by Mark Levin) seems to have been for the longest time here, that the player himself has some sort of super Jjaro powers under his voluntary control. It is implied by the end screen ("...grafted to machines your builders did not understand...") that the player's cybernetics are mysterious and thus probably Jjaro in origin. But it doesn't seem likely to me that the player himself is voluntarily causing all these time jumps. I originally thought as you do, that it was the release of the W'rkncacnter which caused the jumps back in time; but then I noticed that they always occur right as Thoth is discovered. So now I propound that it is his doing, not the W'rkncacnter's. In Eternal, I do postulate that that the player is equipped with Jjaro technology which enables him in particular to make those jumps; but that he cannot control it himself, and must be used by others who know how to do so. : Also, a rubicon question, I believe Durandal and Thoth were : merged at the end of infinity, why is it simply rampant ole' Durandal in : rubicon. Who knows, maybe im just an idiot or missing something. Perhaps : someone could clear this up for me? Rubicon largely ignores the events of Infinity. It's more of a sequel to M2. RX fiddles a bit about that in it's prologue level, conflicting reports from Lh'owon and such.
