Bungie is more than a faceless gaming company - to me and others - because they have fostered that kind of relationship. Similar tight-knit communities abound in the marketplace. Owners of Harley-Davidson motorcycles and Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz and B.M.W. cars (and, of course, the aforementioned Apple) often become fanatical devotees of those products, joining clubs with fellow owners, attending regular gatherings to swap stories and product information and buying related paraphernalia like jackets, hats and coffee mugs. Sound familiar? I didn't write that last bit, it came from a Strategy+Business article on the Grateful Dead. http://www.strategy-business.com/press/article/?art=14332&pg=0 I'm not trying to sell philosophy out of a paper bag here. What I'm trying to say is really quite simple: Bungie has created a more intimate relationship with its fans and that is one of the reasons it has become as successful as it now is. The nature of that relationship stipulates an honestly I found lacking between what I heard and read about the game prior to its release and what I have sitting in my living room now. That discrepancy is, in my mind, exacerbated by the fact I had to wait 2 years and pay $700 to enjoy it (or 2.5/3 years and $70 for the other option). Maybe I expected too much, but if so, then I place a large part of that blame right at Bungie's doorstep. Anonymous Rex
