In Response To: Re: Feminist analysis of Halo 2 (Leisandir) : The Xenomorph is "an embodiment of rape" because of its visual : rendering and method of reproduction. It forcibly impregnates the victim, : then consumes it from the inside. The Flood, on the other hand, is a : zombie virus. It works exactly like the modern concept of the zombie: once : infected, an individual loses control and becomes a vector. I have never : seen Left4Dead described as a rape analogue, and I don't think I ever : will, because it isn't. Just as an aside - I find the xenomorph-rape connection more tenuous than the Gravemind one. Xenomorphs were designed to look phallic, I know, but from a story point of view they're just parasites looking for a host, whereas Gravemind wanted to take control and knowledge, which we know Cortana treasures. The only slight rape connection I've ever seen with zombies or parasites are some really weird speculation about the Witch character (and which I think is a stretch). Zombies and traditionally thought of as a capitalist/consumerist metaphor, are they not?
