HARDLY the description the Arbiter : would have for himself, I think. See, this is the kind of stuff that just makes me hate articles like these. When writing a male character, you don't have to worry about this kind of stuff. But when writing a female character, you have to walk on eggshells so that people won't take it as an example of rape or weakness or bullshit like that. Isn't that double standard the most sexist part of all this? I like your example of the Arbiter, but also think about the cutscene where the Gravemind has control of the Arbier, the Chief, Regret, and Penitent Tangent. Isn't that the most rapey thing we ever see the Gravemind do? But it's skimmed over because all the characters are male? This is the double standard I'm talking about. Imagine if they (or any of them) were female. NOW who's paging Dr. Freud? P.S. Freud was a fucking hack Regarding Miranda, I never once felt any rapey undertones. Not even in the scene with Tartarus. What if it were her father there instead of her? Again, nobody would have said anything. But it's only because she's a woman that it's brought up. You know what else was pretty rapey? When Jacob Keyes gets violated and absorbed by the Flood. But she skims over that part of CE without so much as a "btw is that rapey or is that just me?" Now, I'm not saying there isn't sexism in art. Of course there is. But it swings both ways. And often times there just isn't any at all. Articles like these always come off to me as grasping for straws, and it feels so unfair to me that she singles out women in these stories. Again, isn't that more sexist than just talking about sexual undertones in general? But I'm a man so any criticism I have of feminism is instantly moot and I'm only saying it because I secretly think women are weak and stupid amirite
