To eleborate, the Keymaster is a man who has sex with the Gatekeeper, a lustful woman, to open a dimensional portal. In here, the key and gate can easily be associated with the sexual organs of the vessels due to the fact that the possessed persons' sexuality is so overt. In the case of the Index and the Core, there's nothing explicitly sexual and the designs do not evoke sexuality. The Index doesn't even really go into the Core either. It goes into the Core's control panel. The Core is just the name for the computer. I get that.
