Right, and it's a fundamental difference between an open world and a linear video game. You can't fault a game style for inherent properties of the game style. You can however determine how well the game provides a memorable, entertaining experience.
If you don't like linear games because it's just problem solving with no neutral-choice/multi-outcome content, then fine. But you (generally speaking :) can't fault Halo for not having that level of choice, then claim other FPSs are somehow better in that regard - they're bound by the same limitation; the only 'success' outcome is to beat the game, and beat levels within.
RPG = open problems and many choices related, or unrelated, to the problems
FPS = linear play with sequential problems, providing numerous choice-paths in how to solve them
Single-path linear video games are boring and bad design (these days, at least).
As per the video's example - "Do you accept this task? Yes/No. No? You kid! Do you accept this task? Yes/No..."
