Do I attack the grunt first or the elite? Do I use the DMR or the assault rifle? All of those choices can make things easier or harder, save your life or end it, depending on context and mission. I'd say a video game, though the ultimate conclusion of the grander story is intended to remain, how you get there is dynamic, AND at any point it can come to an end in death, just like a choose your own adventure. The only difference between the two is that a choose your own adventure may have more than one successful THE END. Everything else - exactly the same.
