Really, the only thing that doesn't require : inference to enjoy is the atmosphere of the game... and sometimes I feel : that could have been even better than it already is (e.g. Regrets fleet at : Delta Halo felt waaaay larger than anything on Reach). I can't say I agree with you here. You actually do battle with the Reach Invasion Fleet (RIF henceforth) in space, nevermind the troop through one of its numbers' guts to blow it up, watching dozens show up in system as menacing harbingers of Reach's doom, or the destruction of frigates and emergency colonist evacuation ships from Corvettes above. The RIF was quite literally Reach's foil. The only interaction you had with Regret's fleet was through cutscenes.
