In Response To: Trautmann’s Clue: A Dictionary of Answers (Eagle 117) First and foremost: unbelievable work. Unbelievable. 1.) How does the conflict between humanity and the covenant fall into this framework? Is there any deeper foretelling of it, does it fall into the mythology somewhere, or is it simply short-sighted political/religous crusading by the prophets? Are they simply pawns? 2.) Humans as "man" works very well, obviously Reclaimers are chosen people. However, this sort of means that all other species in the Haloverse are...irrelevant. True? 3.) Gravemind as "Satan" and fallen Forerunner - perhaps he (or is he a collection of Forerunner (Legion)) chose another path when attempting to survive the original Flood. Perhaps Forerunner broke into 2 camps: put eggs in basket of man to reclaim (faith in a savior), or bio-engineer own race to become flood but retain identity (embrace evil). 4.) Back to specifics - why man? Why would one species (Forerunner) choose to save a few of another species (or somehow rebirth) instead of just saving a few of themselves? What's special about man? If your line of reasoning holds, it simplifies things greatly - by my interpretation it would mean that the covenant is irrelevant. That it (and the species enlisted by it) is at best a pawn, it becomes relegated to the role of 7-nation army and nothing more. However, the covenant does not yet fight with Gravemind, they fight against him. I assume that this is why you believe the death of Truth and resurrection as the AC by Gravemind will occur - to bring 7-nation army under Satans (Graveminds) control. One thing I'm not sure of - interspecies mingling makes sense for Spartans' innate abilities/knowledge of Forerunner stuff. However, if the fallen angels (bad Forerunner) disbelieved in man, why would they be the ones to mingle? I know that's how the (biblical) story goes, but why in the haloverse? If anything, it would make more sense for the "good angels" to mingle DNA with humans. In any case, I feel out of breath. Good grief, that's good mental exercise. |
