In Response To: Re: What I want in a rerelease (VikingBoyBilly) : Pfhor fighters are supposed to be stupid. Didn't you get the memo that
Oh, don't get me wrong, the Fighters should still be stupid, but they shouldn't be so damn slow that you can just pistol them to death from a safe distance. I'm thinking something more along the lines of Halo's Combat Flood, albeit without the crazy jump feature and maybe a little more stupid. As for other enemies, some more 'clever' behavior would be neat. For instance, in the original Marathon, none of the enemies took advantage of cover. It would be neat if at least Troopers, Hunters, Enforcers, and so on actively sought cover to fire from. And the AI for BoBs should definitely be more complicated - BoBs should team up to take down enemies, and there should be more varieties of them (such as Assault Rifle BoBs like in Rubicon). : I'm totally fine with 3D level design. What I don't want is 3D models
Oh yeah, definitely. I'm with all of this except for the bit about sprites. Good 3D models would be really cool. Maybe they could even have a feature where you can change visual modes and switch from 3D models over to newer, cleaner versions of the old sprites (just as long as they're not based on the XBLA monsters - those looked absolutely awful). Yes, non-interactive cutscenes are definitely a no-go for a Marathon 4 game. I would be interested, however, in something of a Half-Life approach, with little scripted segments appearing in the middle of gameplay, allowing for interesting visuals and immersion without having to drag the player out of the game itself. And of course there's the obligatory terminals. As for those, I would definitely prefer it to be text-only (as in, no voice-overs). No infinite ammo boxes and no automatically regenerating health - that's what makes Marathon what it is. DLC? Who needs it? Vale,
