In Response To: Re: What we expect in MTA and M4 (Martin) : Heh it was specifically flying things that were pissing me off re the rocket
#1 Rule for Rocket Launcher Use: Do NOT try to use that thing for shooting Banshees or other flying things (if there are any other flying things - I don't recall there being any). You'll never hit anything other than a cliff a mile away, if you're lucky. : And I disagree about the gameplay. Map design is a massive part of that, and
I guess some people have more trouble with that than others - I've never had that problem. Admittedly, 'Truth & Reconciliation', and it's flipside level 'Keyes' are probably the worst this way, as there are no obvious pointers as to where you're supposed to go and all the corridors look like these almost identical purple hallways. At least 'Assault on the Control Room/Two Betrayals' had little arrows on the floors that told you which way to go (note that on Two Betrayals the arrows are backwards because you're going the opposite way). In any case, the real fun of Halo is not so much playing them the way you're supposed to as it is deliberately playing them the way you're not supposed to. If you want to know what I mean, just go to badcyborg.net - there's a ton of really cool tips on the kind of fun you can have messing with the level design. That's probably the best way to give the game greater longevity - find ways to exploit the way it works and come up with something cool. Vale,
