The BR designs between Bungie and 343 are a prime example: The Halo 2/3 design looks perfect. It's something that I can easily imagine humans making, and resembles a lot of modern guns in some of its design areas. There's very little extra crap on it, it doesn't look bulky or unwieldy, very simple, very smooth. There's an elegance to this weapon. This looks overdesigned. It looks uncomfortable to hold. It's blocky and inelegant. It kind of looks like they're trying to incorporate Forerunner design into it, but even then, Forerunner stuff is smooth and elegant-looking in its own way. There's little nooks stuff could get caught on, places for dirt to get in, and that's bad for a gun. I've said this before, but I still think 343i is changing stuff for the sake of changing it, without much regard for keeping consistency with other entries in the series.
