From the edits you made in MSPaint, you gave them : holes that made sense for their humanoid eyes -- not much else was : changed, and one could say that these immediately look "better." I agree that the more alien the visage, the harder it is to relate to it. But my personal problems didn't stem from not being able to relate with them as human, it was about how impractical the visors looked. I feel that if you're going to go through the trouble of putting a visor in a helmet, make it look like it serves a purpose.* Don't put it where human eyes aren't, and certainly don't obscure it with three opaque, light-emitting circles. And I didn't want to change the helmets too much because I wanted to keep it pretty close to the originals overall, but primarily it was because I was lazy. ;) BTW, one of my favorite helmets from Reach was Gungnir, and that thing looks like a dino with one eye. It was probably the most abstract of the bunch and yet it made sense looking at it (a solid visor with a camera), so I was a-okay with it. * And yes, the last one's visor made practical sense, I just felt like it rested just a bit too high up so I scooted it down a smidgen while compacting and stretching other parts as needed.
