That's partly because much of the time, Halo 3 is comprised largely of BR duels (in which health doesn't come into play all the time, admittedly) and AR-melee fights (which are dumb). Even then, I'd argue that having a visible health bar is still better than not having one, as it will still inform your actions on a moment-to-moment basis. Also, can I just point out how hilarious it is that Halo 3 is being used as an example of a game feeling sufficiently responsive? I get where you're coming from, but you really don't see anyone venturing within 50 miles of that territory very often. : One correction: Banshee health is regenerative. But aside from that, vehicle : appearance gives indication as to its disrepair. I'm fully aware that Banshee (actually, not just banshee; ALL vehicle health) is regenerative; that was my point. Many Reach players still think it isn't regenerative, and wind up perceiving the vehicle health system as finicky because they can't quite place what's causing what. Even knowing how it works, I wish I had a better system than guaging everything on a few thresholds of visible damage levels.
