Nade indicator was really awesome... Works well. Also: Yes you need a perk to pick up opponents grenades... Imagine if I had a DMR/BR/Unlimited Grenade pickup/Unlimited Sprint(perk) and Armor Ability...WAAAAAY OP. As for the Meleee system when I played it seemed as though I got very few melees and almost NO DOUBLE MELEES (Fuck reach). It seems 343 values gun play the most. I don't know how to describe it but it felt like Auto aim for melle was turned WAAAAAAY down.... Imagine a 1-10 scale for melee with 1 being the hardest to get a melee kill and 10 being the easiest, Reach is like a 9 and halo4 is like a 3. I was getting about 20-25 kills per match and out of say 20, 17 would be weapon based, 2 would be grenade and 1 would be melee, keep in mind though I prefer to use precision weapons and rarely let opponents get close.
