Also, : ignorantly genocidal alien species... There's another part in one of the novels where it's mentioned the Elites see closer to the violet end of the spectrum and that's probably why their controls, monitors, and bulkheads are those purple colors. Perhaps they don't see red well or just see a wider visible spectrum than us.
