TV ads ran. There was a billboard in Melbourne. There was a street party event at launch in the city. The Chief was emblazoned on the side of buses and trams. For weeks after the street party people were walking around in Halo t-shirts that had been given away. There was a a homeless guy pushing a trolley that had a poster of the Chief stuck to the front of his trolley. And he was wearing a t-shirt. There was a buzz about the game and it was made real by this kind of street level marketing. You could not turn a corner without seeing the Chief or Halo at that time. (The midnight launch at my own local store had 250+ people for Halo3. ODST had 9. Reach had around 15.) Where was that for Reach? By comparison, Black Ops was everywhere. I couldn't turn a corner without seeing some form of advertising for it. Even Brink was all over buses/trams and a billboard even. -Hedge.
