Wow, this is funny shit. "That's the role I want Halo to play, to be what Halo [already] is. It's not about re-enacting previous wars, it's not the kind of comic-booky pulp that Gears of War is, which obviously I love." Halo is EXACTLY comic booky pulp! It was even before they MADE comics about it. Stop taking Halo so seriously. It's not some outstanding literary science fiction narrative that will be taught in colleges for years to come. Ho hum, nothing happens for the first 80% of the game, then we hit the climax through a deus ex machina. If THAT'S what they mean by Halo straying off course, then I agree whole heartedly!
