In Response To: What the... (MikeMan445) : Strangepurple, I've seen videos of you, and I respect your skill. I know you
: However, there are several things wrong, or just strange (no pun intended)
: Second: Looking at the sales charts proves nothing. A VERY small percentage

: No, really. Since when? I can't think of any good reason to be that
: I'm not bashing the MLG thread, but it seems there are just as many fanboys
: --MikeMan first, when you point to the sales chart I am agreeing with you maybe I just worded it badly in the original post. I think the fact that the game continued to sell through all those years, shows how much mainstream appeal it had, regardless of what weapons I or anyone else liked. The bottom line was the gameplay was excellent and through word of mouth the game continued to sell. This would support the idea that these casual fans we keep talking about loved the game as it was, not the elites. Secondly, sequals more then often change less then someone like you would hope for. Franchises like well basically, anything by EA, the sequal is basically a carbon copy of the previous game, with slight adjustments made. Maybe thats the "world i grew up on" because these games while often bashed by people like you for not being innovative, continue to sell on a massive scale year after year, with only slight upgrades to the previous version. Now im not saying I like EA o r anything like that, I'm just saying it's absolutely not going to far to say someone wants very few changes in the sequal, it happens with games ALL the time. Thirdly, I don't believe I ever said I wanted the pistol in Halo2, in fact your entire argument is a little weird in that I really don't care that much about the pistol per say, but more about the overal feeling taht you got playing Halo. If you folks keep wishing to discredit the argument by simply pointing out that I want the pistol you arent doing it justice. You say that bungie "stuck with the formula that worked", while I say it absolutely doesnt feel like that, even to my noob buddies. This game is OBVIOUSLY very different, and it has a different feeling even on the core level, if you refuse to admit that maybe you are the one who is just unwilling to look at the game objectively. And if we are "fanboys" then we have been fanboys for 3 years, we are not instantly jumping on the halo2 bandwagon and getting behind it SIMPLY because the title says Halo2. In my opinion I hold a higher standard for something called "halo" due to the fact that i'm even on these forums 3 years after the game I play is released. Many have stated it, we are Halo players, we don't own other games, I was willing and I put out the good word all through development of Halo2 when we heard about the changes but hadnt tried them, now that we have had the game for a week or two and really gotten into it, I am expressing my frustration because it feels like bungie changed the core of what was an excellent game. |
