In Response To: Upset with Halo2 gameplay? You're not alone. LINK (guy who doesn't post....too often) : Here's a link to a post in the mlgpro forums. : It has quite a few different viewpoints on the gameplay of Halo2 and it has
: I think it would be best to post replies in that thread, and opinions of it
: -gwdpto All this is. Feel free to have your problems with Halo2. Fine. Please don't call Bungie names. I read through the thread and it alarmed to find some people feeling that they have to leave the Halo community due to their disgust at Halo2. I personally like it, but why are we tearing each other apart over a videogame? We are all Halo fans! You may be a Halo1 fan, I may be a Halo2 fan, but it's Halo nonetheless! You can say that 'it's not Halo,' but it is! Nothing said will keep that fact from being true. Bungie certified it "Halo2" and there will never be another. If you watch the Halo2 LE DVD, you see that Halo is the game that brought 40 people from across the nation to play Halo at Louis' house. This is the sequel, like it or not. You can take this sequel and cry about it, or you can take this sequel and organize a lanfest - it's a rare thing to see fourty people congregate in the name of something, much less a videogame. Halo1 created community. Not a Halo1 community, but a Halo community. Many people were infatuated with the story; others, multiplayer; others, the promise of Halo2. What ever brought you into it, don't feel like you have to leave because there's a new baby! We STILL love Halo1, all of us, and people will still play Halo1 on XBC, and there will still be games going up at lanfests with Prisoner, and Boarding Action, and Hang 'Em High. We're not kicking you out because you're unsatisfied with Halo2. But if you yell about it, there's a difference. We can all still like Halo, not just the game, but the universe. It's not about killing in Halo1, or killing in Halo2, it's about Killing. PERIOD. Killing your buddy and having him kill you back, and laughing about it later. Don't let something as simple as a videogame, or a fictional gun in a videogame, rob you from such experiences, and more importantly, friends. A couple days ago, I was reading up on Brian Morden, a Halo fan who died of Cancer in Feb. 2003. I read about the lanfest at his house in his memory, and about Mig speaking at his funeral. I read about the forumwide outcry of support, and how his symbol, <3, is still in this place. I read about Louis' calls to his Hospitial room, and Brian's delight when he saw them. His face lit up because he had friends due to Halo. The fact he had friends due to that, is a testament to this community... are we going to let something as stupid as a over/underpowered gun take that community, those friends, and that potential light from our faces? I dearly hope not. Chester. |
