In Response To: Upset with Halo2 gameplay? You're not alone. LINK (guy who doesn't post....too often) : Here's a link to a post in the mlgpro forums. : It has quite a few different viewpoints on the gameplay of Halo2 and it has
: I think it would be best to post replies in that thread, and opinions of it
: -gwdpto That whole thread, and the assenting opinion posted by you and others in this one, is complete garbage. To say that Halo 2 is "spray and pray" is idiotic. I challenge ANYONE to take say, an OGRE twin out with two of any other weapon when he has a plasma pistol and magnum combo. As soon as the plasma charge hits, headshot and they're dead. Instantly. No spraying, no praying, no if's, and's, or but's. It takes skill to land that headshot, and the ones who get good at that combo are the ones who are going to DOMINATE Halo 2. The ones who become familiar with how the weapons work are the ones who are going to dominate. The ones who think on their toes are going to dominate. The ones who see that the game is so intricately balanced that you can make magic from almost any combo are going to dominate. So you start with an SMG? You started with an Assault Rifle in Halo 1. What's the difference? You can now, as you could then, SPECIFY what weapons you would like to start with. What a concept! Who says that MLG has to use the rulesets that Bungie chooses as representing Halo 2? They didn't use the default rulesets for the first game. They didn't use custom starting weapons on say, Damnnation slayer matches. They used "Generic". For Halo 2, they will make their own, and it will come from a consensus on what the starting weapons should be. The consensus will come from those at the top of Halo 2, in the tournament scene. The combat-feedback loop from Halo 1 is EXACTLY the same. The physics are incredibly similar. The lack of health packs levels the playing field. The ability to customize starting weapons does the same. It is you, and the MLG players over on that board, who are being childish and immature. You are being stubborn and obstinate, and you are failing to grasp the simple truth: Halo 2 is what Halo 1 should have been. In playing with an unbalanced game all this time, you grew to love it. Now, the tables have turned, and you're whining like a bunch of 5 year olds. In two years, there will be two types of people: those who have learned the new game, and those who still mourn the old. Do whatever you want! Organize all the XBC Halo 1 tourneys you'd like. The pistol is still there, guys. Just don't criticize the rest of the world, or Bungie, for moving on. --MikeMan
