The main goal of Bungie when creating halo 2 multiplayer was that it be FUN After several nights of intense 4v4 system link TS with guys in my dorm, I have concluded that halo 2 MP is offially FUN. I consider myself a pretty good Halo 1 player... the guys Ive played with at HBO lans can attest... I managed to find that wow... some of my skill carried over, and some of a real noob's lack of skill also carried over. Halo 2 MP is as full of intricacies as Halo 1. Just as someone popping out of nowhere with an AR could probably kill me even at full health with a loaded pistol in H1. Likewise, I could kill a guy charging at me with a shotgun leveled with my pistol in H1...

Halo 2 is just the same except there is no super weapon to own all the others. I have killed a guy charging with two SMGs with my BR, and likewise, I have had a loaded carbine and been killed by a guy with a single SMG... what halo 2 forces you to do is become proficient with every weapon instead of just the pistol. The one mistake bungie made, was making the SMG the default weapon... if it had been my choice, I would have made it the Battle Rifle because while it requires skill to use and is powerful enough that you are not helpless at the start, while it is not so good that you'll never need to pick up another gun.

In halo 1, the pistol trumped all... sure you'll argue that pros picked up other guns like the shotgun or plasmarifle at times, but if you have time to line up (and more often than not, you do) the pistol will beat each one of those guns. In halo 2, there is no overpowering weapon...

Halo 1 was the greatest game I have ever played... the multiplayer kept me coming back YEARS after it was released... from just the few days i have been playing Halo 2... it is equally fun. Bungie didnt design the game for "pro" gamers... they designed it for people like most of us here in this community... just your average gamer who enjoys an intense yet friendly and above all fun multiplayer experience.
