In Response To: Upset with Halo2 gameplay? You're not alone. LINK (guy who doesn't post....too often) Ok, so let me see if im getting this straight. People are complaining that there is a rock paper scissors system? Well in a gametype where you started with other than the pistol, the person who got to it first would always win. A simple case of best weapon rules - similar to what is being described about H2. Well, In H1 the strongest offensive weapon was the pistol. In H2, I think the strongest offensive weapon is a magnum/plasma pistol combo. With this, I can take down someone in less time you would take to do it with a pistol in H1. at mid range, no-one else stands a chance. That seems a little unfair, don't you think? If someone else has the same combination, it comes down to SKILL (shock!) as to who can get an accurate headshot. So, in this case, the more skilled player will win. This will easily overcome a 'noob' DW'ing smg's. With this you can also take aout a group as long as you dont let them get too close, 3 seconds (for the pp to cool and recharge) roughly per kill. H1 wasn't a rock paper scissors system?
H2 is almost the same.
H2 doesnt take skill? I think the skill is in finding a way to tip the scales in your direction, rather than just constantly using the same weapon. You have to THINK in H2. In H1 the only thinking involved was to press the 'Y' button as soon as you spawned. Sure, you had to know how to use it, but that still applies to weapons in H2. Its not H2 that is wrong, H1 was wrong in the first place by having a weapon that was too accurate for its type. H2 is how H1 should have been in the first place. No contest. If this is what you were used to to start with, there would be no complaining. The good thing about H2 is that it forces you to use different weapons. You have to think a little - instead of just pistoling. There are many different options. The balancing issue imo is much better for gameplay, since now you have a small chance of keeping up with a much better player, rather than no chance at all. This way games are much closer and more fun, rather than a frustrating pistol-fest. The better players will still come out on top - just slightly closer games. The on thing I felt wasn't right about H2 is the sword - why is the lunge distance so great? But still, think! Keep your distance. Its not that hard to even things up a tad. When it comes down to it, what would you rather do - go into a battle of a long, close game for the final kill not knowing who is going to win, or going into a game and knowing who will win from the start? I know which one I would prefer. H2 is not wrong, its just a little different. I hate to say it, but its true; if you dont like H2, go back to playing H1. Its that simple folks. |
