You know what's funny? If they took Halo 1's weapons, levels, and gameplay from MP, and slapped the name Halo 2 on it, people would be complaining: "It took them 3 years to make this?????? This is the same thing as Halo 1!!! Waaaaa!"
I happen to think the multiplayer in Halo 2 is much improved over Halo 1's multiplayer. No just because of the lack of the overpowered pistol, but also because of the balance and lack of cheapness. I mean, how many levels in Halo 1 could you sit at the other teams base and chuck nades where you knew people would spawn to get easy kills???? There were at least 5 or 6 maps where this was quite easy (Damnation, Prisoner, Hang 'Em High, Wizard, Derelict) and many people would do that to rack up kills. The grenades were way too overpowering, and frankly, spawing on them got annoying after a while. This aspect is totally gone however, as there are so many place on the maps you can spawn, and the grenades aren't nearly as cheap (throws across the smaller levels anyone????).
All I'm saying is to just take Halo 2 for what it is. An excellent game (probably the best for Xbox), and if you want Halo 1 go play Halo 1. For people like me who want something a little different, and in some ways better....play Halo 2.
