In Response To: Re: Well, so much for the respect part. (vector40) Wow, guys. Welp, I'd just like to point out that selling one fifth of your company in order to stave off rent, maintanence, labor, and publsihing fees is not exactly a sign of financial security. Personally, reading something like that would set off an alarm in my head. Especially about Bungie. Independent game studios are often very expensive to run. Need proof? rent & fees associated with owning a room or building can be very expensive, tack on paying your employees,
Plus, Bungie West was in California, so, instead of doubling rent you might as well triple it, and then tack on the heavy business taxes and lisencing costs. Speaking of lisencing, as a professional business you are required to lisence all your software. That's a lotta MSVC++ and 3DSMax. You also need to keep your hardware up to date... And if Matt isn't taking an extra take for his work, then we owe him a big hug for putting up with idiots all the time. ;) Seriously, I doubt selling 20% of Bungie to Take Two was the huge solution you seem to think The Man made it out to be. It wasn't a good sign at all. And even if it WERE capable of funding through Halo (which was neither solid nor liquid, at the time), it wouldn't have lasted them much longer, and you can only sell so much of your company before it isn't yours anymore. -S | |
