In Response To: Re: i respectfully disagree. (karstux) : I've read the reviews, and i've played the game (however briefly so). I'm not
You know, I've got a lot of books that I really love dearly. Only a few of them, though, would I consider my "favorites" — books that are really spectacular, true classics. Now, if I had never read these books, and for the first time, found them in the store... what then? Suppose I had never even HEARD of them, even though most of them are (naturally) quite famous. If I had the good luck to stumble across one of these books, then let me tell you what would happen. I'd pick it up, and I'd flip it open to a random page. I'd read a paragraph or two. Now — if some pleased god was smiling on me, perhaps I'd read the single best stand-alone paragraph in the entire book. I'd be hooked, and I'd buy the book right away. But, far more likely — I would just read another one of the paragraphs which are so common in the book, which set up the plot, or expand on the characters, or generally add to the feeling you'll get when you FINISH it — which is, "Damn, this rocks." Now. Suppose it were a game. Suppose I pick it up, and play it for ten minutes... | |
