If by "valid point" you mean "expect people to dance on your good intentions, just because they can," then you're correct. Of the two of you, Gromit was the only one that could provide an argument with a base to stand on. However, both of you missed the point of the thread. It wasn't meant to be a discussion. As Gromit said (as though I was committing some sort of crime by asking people to say "thanks," and nothing more, I wanted the thread to be "unilateral." Little did I know that was too much to ask. It won't happen again, believe me. : I certainly appreciate the intention of your initial post: it's nice to do : something nice. : It's just the one-sidedness of your initial post and my thinking that you had : a couple of points that were just completely wrong that made me reply (in : a somewhat rude way, perhaps) and add some of perspective to the picture. It's not a matter of your replying that made it seem rude to me. More or less, it wa that I had, really politely asked that replies be made in a new thread. : When posting in a public forum, this must be expected. Per definitionem, : *all* threads are for conversation. If you wanted undisturbed : communication free of undesired opinions, you should have chosen a more : appropriate medium for that purpose, such as eMail. Indeed. Unfortunately it seems I expected too much of some of the community in asking them to take discussion into a new thread. Just goes to show you, nothing is sacred, eh? : Um.. perhaps this is due to my being not a native speaker of the english : language, but i'm unable to follow your logic in this paragraph. What do : forum mechanisms have to do with that? I was trying to point out that "Post New Message," the option for starting a new thread, is very close to where my thread was at the time everyone read it. Sorry if I the message got convoluted there, I tend to do that sometimes, and I was in a pretty bad mood that people had messed up what I was trying to do. -S
