That doesn't mean they actually are supposed to act as something new that fits within the canon, though. At the moment I don't see how that particular Terminal fits into canon without trying to come up with flashy explanations and theories and scenarios. If it successfully stood on its own and integrated well with what has already been previously established in H1, we wouldn't need to try and come up with any of those things. But the whole game? It doesn't even contradict an entire level. But it sure doesn't appear to fit very well into the levels or the game (in my opinion).
